It’s been a while since the last post. A lot has happened in the past 2 years – some of it good and some major and not so welcome. The biggest was my husband’s passing a year ago. That is a hard one to recover from. It’s taken the year to reset myself and my life which I am still continuing to work on . I am so lucky to have had children, grandchildren, in-laws (Ed’s family is so amazing and kind) and family in general who were incredibly supportive despite their own grief and busy lives. A host of friends who were there then and continue to be whenever I need them.
So… Spring again! Both figuratively, spiritually and physically. Re awakening of life around me and in me. Reflecting over this last year I’ve had opportunities to learn. I have had a Japanese exchange student with me for 4 months until they could find her a permanent placement home. Mihina was a lovely 16 year old to spend time with and helped me appreciate my surroundings seen through fresh eyes. I now have a Ukrainian family staying with me until they get their feet under them and can move on. They’re amazing, strong and brave. Living proof that we just have to try and be willing to stay positive and adjust during adversity. There seem to be lessons everywhere and I’m paying attention. Well, Spring really is a time of change and growth.
I see snow drops in the garden and hear the birds getting ready to meet their mate. The thought of the song sparrows sitting on the deck rail and singing their morning away brings happy thoughts. Life will go on and the small joys can really be big joys. The studio has been a welcome refuge. It too isn’t very big but brings great happiness. I am working on new pieces again and a new series. I will post work when I can.
I wish everyone a happy Spring and hope that you too can see the joy in the small as well as the big.
